"Phoebe, I have some band-aids. I'll go get them for you." Millie Sanders turned and ran to the employee break room.
'Such a long scratch, and the bleeding won't stop.' It was the first time she realized a girl's fingernails could do so much damage. It didn't even hurt that much, yet the bleeding was relentless.
Phoebe Faulkner wiped it with a tissue several times, but the blood would well up again as soon as she was done.
"Phoebe, here's a band-aid." Millie came running back out and handed a cute one to Phoebe. But after passing it over and seeing the wound on Phoebe's face, she couldn't help but pull it back. "You know what, why don't I put it on for you? Your face is all scratched up. The cut is so long, one isn't going to be enough."
"It's okay."
"It's all my fault. If I hadn't talked back to Echo Lynch, you wouldn't have gotten scratched."
Millie said, her eyes filled with guilt.
