Jace Lennox glanced at Phoebe Faulkner.
Phoebe pretended not to notice.
Jace looked away.
Phoebe tentatively crossed her legs, then hooked her raised foot around Jace's leg.
Jace was silent.
When Jace didn't react, Phoebe hooked his leg again. Emulating the women she'd seen in bars, she even began to rub the top of her foot against his calf.
Jace shot a cold glare at Phoebe.
Phoebe immediately mimicked the women from the bar, licking her lips and giving Jace a sultry look.
Jace's expression darkened completely.
'Huh? It's not working?'
Seeing that Jace showed no reaction whatsoever—so different from the men she'd seen in bars—Phoebe couldn't help but stand. She placed her hands on the back of his chair and began to circle it on her tiptoes.
As she moved, her hand ghosted tantalizingly across his cheek.
Finally, as Phoebe started her third lap, Jace abruptly seized her wrist and pinned her against the dining table. A flash of delight cut through her shock. 'Did it work?'
