'Hmm? An unknown number?'
Confused, Phoebe Faulkner hesitated for two seconds before answering the call. The moment the line connected, a magnetic, hoarse male voice came through the earpiece. "Where are you?"
The voice was familiar, yet she couldn't be sure, and it made Phoebe Faulkner's heart skip a beat. She cautiously asked the man on the other end, "Mr. Lennox?"
"Come to my hotel room."
And with that, Jace Lennox hung up.
Phoebe Faulkner stared at her phone, stunned.
"Phoebe, what's wrong? Who called?" Kitty asked.
"Kitty, pull over. I have to take care of something. You go home and wait to hear from me."
"What? Phoebe, where are you going? I'll go with you."
"It's okay, it's just a small thing. Wait for my call." As soon as Kitty pulled over, Phoebe Faulkner got out, hailed a taxi, and rushed to the five-star hotel where Jace Lennox was staying.
'She'd left her phone in Jace Lennox's car before, so it wasn't surprising he had her number.'
