He'd seen too many people beat around the bush with him, always holding back, terrified of showing their hand.
But Annelise Valentine was different. She said what she wanted directly. Even with the most difficult things to say, she dared to lay her cards on the table, fighting for herself openly and honorably.
Such a sincere character was rare.
Miles Morgan's hesitation unconsciously melted into a degree of admiration.
'She's a bold kid,' he thought. 'At least from our conversation so far, I haven't misjudged her.'
As for the two new identities she wanted...
Miles Morgan looked at her reddened eyes, at the way she was clearly on the verge of tears but still forcing herself to hold on, waiting for his nod. The reluctance in his heart softened without him realizing it.
He sighed. 'So be it. To be pushed this far and still refuse to say anything... she must have her reasons.'
As for what those reasons were, if she wasn't willing to say, then so be it.
