Kian Miller had only been grazed on the head by some small debris, and it was already bandaged.
With a small gauze bandage wrapped around his head, he walked over when he saw Annelise Valentine standing by the operating room door.
"Ann—" He stopped himself short, the correction stiff. "Miss Valentine, is your hand all right?"
"It's fine."
Kian Miller nodded and fell silent for a few seconds.
"Miss Valentine," he began, pausing for a moment.
"I know Jett has wronged you, but that's no reason to try and run him over, is it?"
Annelise Valentine looked up at him.
Kian Miller didn't look away. He met her gaze, his expression unreadable—not anger, but a kind of bewildered confusion that said, 'I just don't understand.'
He had been too far away at the time. All he saw was their car lurching violently toward Jett Westgate.
Then the earthquake hit, rocks started tumbling down, and everything became a blur.
