A wave of awkwardness hung in the air around them.
Her unusual mood prompted Byron Shaw's concern. "Georgia, do you want me to go with you?"
"No, it's fine. I can go by myself."
Clutching the damp part of her skirt, she hurried out.
After asking a waiter for directions, she headed to the restroom.
She was wearing a long, cream-colored dress. The spilled tea had dried quickly, so the stain wasn't too obvious.
She rinsed it with some water, and once it looked better, she turned off the faucet.
Her reflection in the mirror looked awful, even with makeup on.
Georgia Thorne took her phone out of her pocket and sent a text to Byron Shaw. "Attorney Shaw, I hope this is the last time I have to pretend to be your girlfriend!"
Byron Shaw replied quickly. "Are you mad?"
Georgia glanced at it. Before she could reply, another message came in from Byron.
"If you don't agree, I can just be honest with my friends. I'm sure Nathan Rhodes wouldn't mind."
