Georgia Thorne had never seen Nancy Hughes cry. This was a first.
She pounded on the door, hoping Nancy would open up so they could talk things through.
Nancy's sobbing voice came through the wooden door. "Georgia Thorne, please, just let me calm down, okay?!"
The pounding stopped.
Georgia choked back a sob. Ever since they'd become close friends, Nancy had never called her by her full name.
Georgia turned and saw the shattered glass on the floor. She swept up the pieces before returning to her room.
She knew she had to give Nancy some time to cool down.
Nancy was good-natured. She never got angry with anyone, never picked a fight.
Georgia had thought that Nancy's feelings for Zane Lennox were a thing of the past.
She figured Nancy would be over it by morning.
But in the end, she had underestimated the depth of Nancy's feelings. Even though Zane Lennox had been gone for two years, Nancy had never forgotten him.
The only one who had forgotten was Zane Lennox himself.
