Hayley Sullivan smashed a glass in a fit of rage. 'That Selena Sheridan, always messing things up at the most crucial moments.'
A plan that was so close to success had been ruined, just like that.
She was filled with bitter resentment, yet utterly helpless.
Amanda Thorne, sitting beside her, patted her mother's shoulder. "Mom, calm down. It didn't work out this time, but there's always a next time, right?"
Hayley Sullivan snarled, grinding her teeth. "Next time, I won't let her off so easily!"
'Next time, I'll find the perfect opportunity and make sure she has absolutely no way out.'
Selena Sheridan had wanted to stay, but a phone call from her parents summoned her away.
Georgia Thorne huddled under the covers, unable to get Elliot Sheridan's handsome face out of her head.
His voice echoed in her ears...
'When Selena gets home, is she going to run into Elliot Sheridan? If she does, what if he tells his niece that I threw myself at him?'
Her head throbbed. She had no idea what to do.
Georgia Thorne was still agonizing over what had happened earlier that day. She'd sent a text to Selena but hadn't heard back yet.
A knock came at the door. It was Jared Thorne.
"Dad." She sat up, her headache intensifying.
After a moment's thought, Jared Thorne had decided to come and ask her about what had happened.
"So, what did you think of the man I had you meet today?" Jared Thorne asked, taking a seat.
'Heh. "The man." Seriously...'
'He basically served me up to Keith Larkin on a silver platter, and now he's here putting on this hypocritical act.'
"Dad, did you want this to work out, or not?"
Jared Thorne was rendered speechless. A wave of disgust washed over Georgia. 'How could Mom have ever fallen for a man like this?' she wondered.
The two of them had never spoken like this, just father and daughter. This was a first.
Georgia Thorne's heart sank further and further. Her gaze, fixed on Jared Thorne, grew colder. "Dad, I'm tired. I want to rest now. Please leave."
"Okay, you get some rest then." Jared Thorne hesitated. He'd wanted to probe a little, to ask about Selena Sheridan's take on the situation.
Georgia was bone-tired. The moment Jared Thorne left, she bolted the door.
'This house was becoming more and more dangerous for her.'

Today was James Sheridan's birthday, and the entire Sheridan family had gathered.
Elliot Sheridan was also among them, and he presented a birthday gift to his father.
Selena Sheridan, however, looked thoroughly displeased, still upset about what had happened to Georgia Thorne.
The Sheridans doted on the family's only daughter, so James Sheridan asked with concern, "What is it? Who made you unhappy? You've been pulling a long face all evening."
"Who else could it be? I've just never seen such shameless parents, selling their own daughter to some old man for the sake of their business." Selena Sheridan, being a young woman, was always outspoken.
"You mean that girl, Georgia?"
"Yes! Georgia's parents are awful!"
James Sheridan doted on his granddaughter, so he listened patiently to her complaints.
The previously silent Elliot Sheridan set down his chopsticks, a flicker of some deeper meaning in his eyes.
The Thorne family's company was going downhill. If it weren't for the financial backing from Hayley Sullivan's family, it would have gone under long ago.
