It was such a perfect excuse that Shalma Hughes was instantly at a loss for words. "If that's the case, you might as well put a bodyguard by my side. That way, you can rest even easier," she said offhandedly, sounding somewhat annoyed.
He merely replied, "Yes, the bodyguard is still in The Union. He should be returning soon, and the two of you will meet shortly."
Shalma was startled. "You're not joking?" She had only said it in passing, never actually imagining she would be saddled with a human tracker.
"Do I look like I'm joking?" Julian Winslow's handsome face was deadly serious.
"Before I agreed to marry you, you never mentioned I'd have to carry a human tracker around with me." Shalma stood up in agitation. He made it sound so high and mighty by calling it protection, but it was really just a ploy to monitor her every move.
Julian raised an eyebrow and looked over, his gaze deep and inscrutable. "You didn't ask."
