Upon seeing the newcomer, Sharon Morton dug her impeccably manicured nails deep into her palms. A thick layer of cold sweat broke out on her forehead from sheer terror.
Kai Winslow glanced over Sharon's slightly startled face, a hint of a wicked smirk playing on his lips. He thought that this woman really knew how to put on an act; just looking at her made him sick to his stomach.
"Miss Jennings, I'll be leaving now. I'll come visit you next time," Sharon said, standing up and giving Brielle Jennings a slight bow.
"Why are you leaving so soon? Stay for dinner. It's been a long time since you last ate here," Brielle said with a smile.
Sharon shot a discreet glance at Kai, who was now standing firmly in the room. A complex mix of emotions churned in her heart. She wondered how on earth she could possibly stay for dinner. "No, thank you, Miss Jennings. I should get going."
