Jasper Hawthorne paid no mind to the sarcastic remark. He ignored it, turning around to look at the figure behind him instead. "Are you alright? Are you hurt anywhere?" he asked softly. As he spoke, his hand instinctively reached up to caress the beautiful face that had haunted his dreams.
Feeling the warmth from his hand, Shalma Hughes paused slightly. She immediately raised her hand to brush his away, putting some distance between them as they had been standing too close. "I'm fine, thank you."
Seeing how incredibly tense the atmosphere was, Wendy Quinn hurriedly chimed in, "Goodness! It's a good thing Senior Hawthorne showed up in time! What would we have done otherwise?
