Julian Winslow continued to smile warmly. He turned his eyes to Wanda Thorne beside him and said mildly, "What Wanda just said is, in Mr. Winslow's opinion, completely unfounded. Instead, Mr. Winslow is the one who should say something. Please tell your ex-husband to stop pestering my fiancée; otherwise, Mr. Winslow won't be so accommodating."
Hearing this, Wanda's beautifully manicured nails dug deeply into the flesh of her palms. The physical pain was sharp, but it was not even a fraction of the ache in her heart. She didn't make a sound, only lowering her eyes and nodding.
Shalma Hughes, upon hearing Julian's words, was stunned. "Is he standing up for me?" she wondered.
Julian stood up and elegantly buttoned his suit jacket. "Sorry for the intrusion today," he said mildly. "We will be taking our leave now."
Leroy Thorne also stood up to politely see them off. "Since that's the case, I won't keep you."
