Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Sleeping Beauty and His Breakfast

Meanwhile.

Two people stood on the mountainside, holding sleeping bags and a tent, their hair a mess in the wind.

The live comments were flooded with "HAHAHAHA."

Iris Yates looked at her surroundings and gave a wry smile. "I feel like I signed up for a wilderness survival show."

Rhett Reynolds chuckled helplessly. "A team-based wilderness survival show, at that."

After they finished setting up the tent, they looked up at the completely transparent material above and finally understood why it was called a "stargazing room."

[LOL! You can just look up and gaze at the stars. Suddenly I'm getting reverse-influenced to want this tent!]

While things were bleak on their end, it was incredibly cozy over with Ruby Sawyer. She had thoughtfully prepared soft masks for both herself and Vincent Vance, since they had gotten grimy from the afternoon's task.

Seeing the two of them chatting while wearing matching soft masks, the live comments were all about "shipping it."

In the basic room, Anna Summers and Leo Bishop were cheerfully interacting with the fans watching the livestream. For a moment, their stream window was flooded with viewers.

The directing team looked at the data, which showed they were consistently at the top of the variety show livestream rankings. The director chuckled, took a sip of his tea, and said to the man in the trench coat beside him, "You sure have a good eye, kid. Getting Amelia Lockhart was totally worth it!"

To get the biggest win with the smallest investment—truly worthy of the renowned Young Master Linden of the business world.

Silas Linden smiled faintly, his eyes on one of the livestream windows. "You're too kind, Director Sheridan. I merely made a small suggestion. You're the one with a keen eye for talent."

"I was just giving it a shot. After all, with Ethan Quinn anchoring the show, I was never worried about the ratings. And I really have you to thank, Silas, for getting Ethan on board!"

Silas Linden's smile remained. "Ethan Quinn owes me a favor."

Director Sheridan gave a helpless laugh. "I can't believe even Ethan Quinn owes you a favor. Is there anyone in the entertainment industry who *doesn't* owe you one?"

The smile on Silas Linden's lips deepened. He swirled the red wine in his glass and took a small sip. "Since Ethan Quinn is fine, I won't impose any longer. As long as he and Amelia Lockhart are paired up, you won't have to worry about the show's ratings."

Director Sheridan froze for a moment. By the time he processed what was said, Silas Linden's figure was already gliding away, leaving only the flutter of his coattails in his wake.

'What does he mean, "as long as Ethan Quinn and Amelia Lockhart are paired up"? Does that mean the ratings will drop if they aren't?'

The night was silent.

The occasional chirp of an unknown insect broke the silence of the tranquil and peaceful night.

She wasn't sure if it was because she was sharing a room with the High God or because she was sleeping on the floor, but she only managed to drift into a light sleep in the small hours of the morning.

The moment a knock sounded at the door, Amelia Lockhart woke up. She glanced at the motionless Ethan Quinn, then rubbed her drowsy eyes and went to open it.

As soon as she opened the door, a staff member shoved a pink task card into her hand.

"Ms. Lockhart, today's breakfast is ready. The location is drawn on the card. It's first come, first served, but only the female guests can go, and they must go alone."

'First come, first served? And only the women can go?'

Amelia Lockhart casually ran a hand through her hair a couple of times and glanced down at the map on the card. The breakfast spot wasn't far from her room.

Without giving it much thought, Amelia Lockhart threw on a jacket and headed out. Her completely bare-faced appearance instantly jolted awake the crowd of people who had been watching the livestream since early in the morning.

[Her skin is absolutely flawless!]

[Amelia Lockhart's face is a true gift from the heavens. She's so radiant!]

[Oh, come on. Even when these female celebs are "bare-faced," who knows how much filler they've had injected.]

Amelia Lockhart arrived smoothly at the breakfast area. The director was sitting off to the side, eating a bowl of small wontons. He seemed not to have expected anyone to arrive so soon and was clearly surprised.

'It's only just past five, and she's already up?'

"Can I take any of this?" Amelia Lockhart asked, pointing at the items on the table.

The director finally nodded. "The card said, 'first come, first served.' Take whatever you want to eat."

The words had barely left his mouth when the director saw Amelia Lockhart walk toward a styrofoam box on the side. He couldn't help but call out a reminder, "There's no food in the box. That box was just for carrying the breakfast that was delivered..."

"Director, shh! I think Amelia Lockhart wants the box to carry the breakfast!" a staff member whispered, tugging on the director's sleeve and looking at Amelia Lockhart with an excited expression.

'I just love this kind of capable girl! Who says the woman has to be the one who's taken care of?'

Sure enough, Amelia Lockhart picked up the styrofoam box, inspected it, and then walked back to the table laden with all sorts of breakfast foods.

She single-handedly looked about to clear out the entire breakfast table. The dumbfounded director quickly reminded her, "Amelia, I know you have a big appetite, but please leave a little for the others. You're the first one here..."

[Strong and has a huge appetite! She's going to eat the show into bankruptcy!]

[HAHAHA! This is the perfect thing to wake me up in the morning!]

Only then did Amelia Lockhart reluctantly take a few items out of the box, but she seemed extremely unwilling, and her movements were no longer as brisk.

When Amelia Lockhart finally sauntered off, the directing team burst out laughing. The once bountifully laden breakfast table now looked like it had been ransacked.

When Ethan Quinn woke up, the first thing he did was look at his phone.

Nine o'clock.

Ethan Quinn's dark eyes deepened. He hadn't slept this soundly in a long time. For the past few years, his sleep had always been fitful, and sometimes he would wake up in the middle of the night and be unable to fall back asleep.

Having not slept so well in ages, Ethan Quinn felt a few shades lighter. As he sat up, he glanced around and saw that Amelia Lockhart was already up.

Her simple bedding was gone, replaced by a large styrofoam box with a sticky note on it.

Ethan Quinn threw off the thin blanket and stood up. His tall, slender frame stood next to the styrofoam box as his long, jade-like fingers picked up the sticky note.

"Mr. Quinn, there's breakfast inside. It's clean."

When the livestream camera focused on the sticky note, the live comments exploded again.

[Sleeping Beauty and his delicious breakfast! Amelia Lockhart did what we all want to do!]

[Sisters, I'm switching ships! I'm so into this gender-swapped dynamic!]

Inside the styrofoam box, a clean white towel was laid over the contents.

Beneath the towel were still-warm soy milk, tea eggs, and a small steamer basket of dumplings.

These were all things he often ate.

He rarely posted on Weibo, only doing so sometimes when forced to for work. That one time, his agent had told him to share a picture from his daily life, so he had casually shared a photo of his breakfast.

Amelia Lockhart...

She was certainly full of surprises.

After Ethan Quinn had washed up, dressed, and finished his breakfast, he realized Amelia Lockhart still hadn't returned. Feeling that something wasn't right, he lowered his gaze in thought for two seconds, then stood up and headed out the door.

[His Majesty, the Beauty, is finally on the move! Go meet up with your Knight in Shining Armor, Amelia!]

[I have to say, Amelia Lockhart has completely exceeded my expectations. Not only is she taking care of our boy, but she's also viciously crushing the other teams! HAHAHA! Everyone, go watch Amelia's stream! LMAO!]
