The freshman handbook offered a detailed introduction to the many academic departments at Mizkatoke, and there were far more of them than Lloyd had expected.
The university had numerous departments, each divided into many courses, and every course had its own enrollment requirements—
For example, the Space System Lloyd was currently in was divided into several courses, such as "Space Coordinate Calculation," "Spatial Ability Development," "Space Equipment Research," and "Space Foundation Theory."
To enroll in any of these courses, a student had to be a "third-year"—that is, someone who had already completed three other courses.
Furthermore, for the "Space Coordinate Calculation" course, it was strongly recommended that students first complete "Space Foundation Theory" to increase their chances of passing and avoid a poor performance that could lower their rating.
