The moment he left the [Thought Realm], Lloyd felt something in his hand. He quickly looked down and saw it was indeed that pretty little cake, covered in a layer of fruit-flavored mousse, but missing the cherry that had been on top.
"Meow…"
The little kitten lying by the pillow meowed in its squeaky voice, reminding Lloyd that it was still awake. Its round eyes were staring intently at the cake.
"Fine, fine. You get a share."
Lloyd smiled, went out to get the kitten's little milk bowl, broke off half the cake, and put it inside. Man and cat shared the cake.
Although the cake was fragrant and delicious, sweet but not greasy, Lloyd's mind wasn't on it. Instead, he was pondering tonight's seminar.
'The new game mechanics in the Dream Theater; the Redemption Saint is in pain; there's no turning back on the Path of the Extraordinary; the [prophecy] Jenkins spoke of, obtained at a great price; and that bafflingly abrupt end to the whole thing.'
