Damian Fairchild watched her, looking as if she were about to explode. After a few seconds of silence, he said,
"You said I was restricting your freedom, didn't you? As long as you come with me to get our marriage certificate, I'll stop constraining you."
The corners of Seraphina Quinn's mouth turned down. "And if I don't? Are you going to lock me up for the rest of my life?"
Damian Fairchild stared at her, his face devoid of expression. "Seraphina, if you insist on fighting me, then by all means, keep it up. I have all the time and energy in the world to entertain you."

Seraphina Quinn was left sitting alone on the sofa.
She buried her face in her hands, utterly overwhelmed with despair.
Housekeeper Langley emerged from the kitchen with a fruit platter. Seeing Seraphina in such distress, she couldn't help but try to comfort her.
