After briefly reassuring Ali and Lena, Lin Mo made his way to the City Lord's Mansion.
The guards at the entrance to the City Lord's Mansion were the same old faces. Though it was just a gatekeeping job, working the gate at the City Lord's Mansion was considered a pretty good gig.
"Looks like you've put on a little weight recently?"
Lin Mo knew these guards fairly well, so he greeted them with a joke.
"Haha... I just took a new wife, and she's a great cook, so I've been eating a bit more lately... Don't worry, sir, I'll lose the weight soon. I won't tarnish the image of the City Lord's Mansion."
The guard scratched his head, looking a little sheepish.
Lin Mo patted his shoulder, not wanting to say anything more.
After all, these things were none of Lin Mo's business. A joke was just a joke; it was up to the guard to decide what to do. It wasn't like Lin Mo's opinion held any weight.
After a few more words, he walked into the mansion.
