At night in the City Lord's Mansion, within the study, Bexilla Ravel was still hunched over her desk, working after a long day.
Standing before her was a maid of about her own age, with long, ivory-colored hair and a graceful figure.
"What's the status of the investigation?"
Bexilla looked up and rubbed the bridge of her nose. The maid immediately moved behind her and began to gently massage her shoulders.
"A total of eleven villages and towns were attacked by Goblins of varying scales. Nine of them suffered no serious casualties thanks to the rescue efforts of local Guards, militias, city troops, and Adventurers. As for the remaining two villages... the death toll in each has surpassed half the population."
Bexilla took a deep breath, her brow tightly furrowed.
"Arrange for survivor benefits and relief efforts. Also, continue expanding the army, and don't halt the policies for attracting Adventurers from the inland regions."
"But the financial pressure..."
