Chen Yu spat out the Black Copper Ring and held it out in front of Anvil.
Anvil froze, his eyes widening like saucers.
He gingerly took the ring and, using the faint light from the cavern wall, examined it closely. He saw the nearly worn-smooth Dwarf Runes on the inner band.
"That's right, this is it. The Earth-Whisper, one of the inherited treasures of the Copper Fire Clan."
His voice trembled with excitement, but it was quickly replaced by confusion.
"But how did it end up in your possession?"
"Oh, this," Chen Yu recalled. "I killed a giant bat back at the Magma Well and found this in its stomach."
Anvil fell silent after hearing this.
He knew exactly what this meant—the clansmen who had fled with the ring hadn't been unwilling to return or betrayed the clan. They had likely met with a mishap on their journey...
