Chapter 20 - Chapter 19: Talent: Extreme Reversal

In addition to his Lifebound Guardian Beast, Zhong Yi also awakened a Beastmaster Talent called Extreme Reversal.

[Extreme Reversal]: Reverses any power related to the user, causing it to have the complete opposite effect. The reversal does not alter the level of the power.

For Zhong Yi, the powers of any Guardian Beast he forms a Contract with are considered powers related to himself.

For other Guardian Beast Masters, this Talent, Extreme Reversal, would be difficult to use effectively.

For example, one could reverse Flame Energy in battle.

First freezing a target and then scorching it with flames could indeed produce an Elemental Reaction effect.

However, it would place a massive drain on the Guardian Beast Master.

Moreover, this effect isn't as good as the synergy between two Guardian Beasts, as a single Guardian Beast's Energy is finite.

But for Zhong Yi, who possessed the Resurrection Celestial Lord, the Beastmaster Talent Extreme Reversal was a god-tier ability.

By reversing the power of the Resurrection Celestial Lord, its ability to restore Life could be transformed into the ultimate destruction of Life.

Since reversing Energy does not diminish its level, Extreme Reversal effectively granted the Resurrection Celestial Lord the Rule Authorities of both regeneration and destruction.

This allowed the Resurrection Celestial Lord to be used not only as a healing-type Guardian Beast, but also as a Combat-type Guardian Beast.

Under Su Ya's expectant gaze, Zhong Yi opened his eyes.

The moment Zhong Yi opened his eyes, Zhong Ling pulled her hand free from Su Ya's.

She hurried to Zhong Yi's side, her voice filled with concern as she asked,

"Young Master, you were awakening your Soul Base for so long. Did anything go wrong?"

Those closest to a person will always care more about their safety than their potential.

Zhong Yi habitually reached out to pat Zhong Ling's head and said with a smile,

"Xiaolingdang, my Soul Base awakening went very smoothly."

Su Ya also carefully approached Zhong Yi's side, her tone exceptionally respectful as she spoke.

"Lord Zhong, Lord Zhong Yi, the Lifebound Guardian Beast you awakened is an Order Beast."

"You are the third Celestial Destiny Seeker to awaken in all of Starlight City in the past decade."

"My name is Su Ya. It is a great pleasure to meet you. To have served as your Awakening Master is the honor of a lifetime."

Su Ya had become a Main Awakening Master at the Beastmaster Association just after turning 30, and her own Lifebound Guardian Beast was a Soul Day Purple Fox with outstanding potential.

While she was never arrogant in her dealings with others, she held herself to an extremely high standard.

But now, facing Zhong Yi—a mere teenager—Su Ya felt incredibly nervous.

She knew all too well what being a Celestial Destiny Seeker truly meant!

Su Ya's understanding of Celestial Destiny Seekers far surpassed Lu Dong's. Not long ago, she had even had the honor of meeting one, yet she had never been the one to serve as a Celestial Destiny Seeker's Awakening Master.

When Zhong Yi had been awakening with his eyes closed, Su Ya hadn't felt it so keenly.

But facing him now, Su Ya felt an abnormal sense of tension.

She didn't even know what she should say or do next.

"Su Ya, thank you for helping me and Zhong Ling awaken our Soul Bases."

"Now that we've completed the awakening, we should probably register our potential, right?"

"Once that's done, we're planning to head to a Secret Realm immediately to raise our Guardian Beasts' Levels."

Zhong Yi's humble and friendly attitude helped soothe Su Ya's nerves.

Su Ya didn't think much of it when Zhong Yi mentioned going to a Secret Realm to raise his Guardian Beast's Level.

The Beastmaster Association had three First Level Secret Realms that were open year-round, specifically to help new Guardian Beast Masters adapt to combat with their recently awakened Lifebound Guardian Beasts.

These three First Level Secret Realms had a completion rate of over ninety percent and were fully mapped.

Furthermore, these three were known to be the least dangerous of all First Level Secret Realms.

Otherwise, the Beastmaster Association wouldn't have opened them to Guardian Beast Masters who had just awakened their Lifebound Guardian Beasts.

As long as one's potential was rated B Level or higher, it was difficult to even get injured in those three First Level Secret Realms.

Although First Level Secret Realms had an entry Level cap preventing Guardian Beast Masters whose Guardian Beasts had reached the Extraordinary Level from entering, the Beastmaster Association arranged for Guardian Beast Masters—who had contracted Guardian Beasts at the Peak of the Mortal Beast Level—to patrol inside them.

If anyone ran into trouble, these patrols would be there to help.

If Su Ya hadn't been barred from entering a First Level Secret Realm herself, she would have offered to accompany Zhong Yi and Zhong Ling.

'Since Zhong Yi and Zhong Ling are heading to a Secret Realm, I need to report that a Celestial Destiny Seeker has awakened during the Soul Awakening Ceremony.'

The appearance of a Celestial Destiny Seeker was a boon not only to the Xin Xia Federation but also to Starlight City itself.

The Xin Xia Federation, including its capital, Xiajing, was comprised of twenty-nine Heroic Cities.

These twenty-nine Heroic Cities were in constant competition, both openly and covertly, and on multiple levels, every city had its share of victories and defeats.

However, the true measure of a Heroic City's foundation was the number of Celestial Destiny Seekers it possessed.

Celestial Destiny Seekers were responsible for upholding a Heroic City's foundation, and in turn, they would receive the city's unconditional support.

Though she couldn't accompany them, Su Ya still offered thoughtfully,

"Lord Zhong Yi, since this is your first time visiting a Secret Realm, would you like me to arrange an escort?"

Zhong Yi shook his head, refusing bluntly.

"We'll be fine on our own. Besides, we need to buy a few things before heading to the Secret Realm."

After Su Ya respectfully saw them out, Zhong Yi and Zhong Ling left the Beastmaster Association.

From what Su Ya had said, Zhong Ling now had a general understanding of what a Celestial Destiny Seeker was.

Zhong Ling was even happier about Zhong Yi becoming a Celestial Destiny Seeker than she was about awakening both a Lifebound Guardian Beast and a Beastmaster Talent herself.

A smile remained on her youthful face the entire way, radiating pure, vibrant joy.

Zhong Yi had refused Su Ya's offer because he had no intention of going to the three Newbie Secret Realms that the Beastmaster Association kept open to the public.

One couldn't just enter a Secret Realm at will; it consumed Soul Power.

Zhong Yi's Soul Base had only just been activated, and with his current Soul Power, he could only enter a Secret Realm once every three days on average.

The Secret Realms were filled with a large number of Demons, which were far more suitable as fodder for the Soul-Controlling Flower than the purchased Guardian Beast Remains.

After the Soul-Controlling Flower extracted the Life and Soul Energy from the Demons' bodies, their remains could still be used as material for Hong Ji.

'This is a perfect opportunity to increase my strength!'

Zhong Yi had no intention of wasting such an opportunity in a Secret Realm that was little more than a child's playground.

Zhong Yi had many secrets, so traveling with others would be inconvenient.

He didn't mind revealing these secrets to Zhong Ling, but he was unwilling to let any outsiders know.

Still, with his new status as a Celestial Destiny Seeker, as long as he didn't expose the existence of the Soul-Controlling Flower, his other minor secrets wouldn't cause him much trouble even if they were revealed.

Judging by how the Soul-Controlling Flower was able to imprison the Resurrection Celestial Lord with its roots right after sprouting, its Life Level had to be far above that of the Resurrection Celestial Lord, an Order Beast that wielded the power of a Rule.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call it an utter curb-stomp!
