Miranda's accusations hammered down on Lacey, and a flicker of panic crossed her eyes. "Sister, you can't just accuse me out of nowhere. What have I done? How can you slander me like this?"
"Slander me?" Seeing Lacey still putting on an act, Miranda scoffed. "Do I really have to spell it out for you?"
With that, she grabbed a small box from the side and threw it on the ground. "You remember this, don't you?"
The small box hit the floor and burst open, its contents spilling everywhere. Small, brownish-tan sections of vine roots stood out clearly against the marble floor.
Upon seeing the contents of the box, Lacey's fingers clenched at her sides, and her heart sank.
"So? Still think I'm slandering you?" Seeing her sister's silence, a mocking smile played on Miranda's lips.
"Sister, this is just to help you sleep better. You must have misunderstood," Lacey said, giving Miranda an innocent look.
