Clayton Winters furrowed his brow and said disapprovingly, "Brother, isn't this a bad idea? If the Ashworths find out we were the ones pulling strings behind the scenes, we'll be forced into an open conflict with them. After all, Shane was the one in the wrong first."
"Clayton, what are you trying to say? Are you saying this isn't a big deal unless Shane is dead? My son was beaten like that by Seraphina Ashworth. Shouldn't we get revenge?" Linda Quinn said indignantly. "Even if Shane was in the wrong first, Seraphina Ashworth had no right to be so ruthless."
"Sister-in-law, that's not what I meant," Clayton Winters said coolly.
Linda Quinn wouldn't let it go. "Then what did you mean?"
"Enough. If you keep arguing, get out," Mr. Winters snorted, his expression grim.
"Clayton, stay out of this. You can leave now," Mr. Winters said to Clayton, who was sitting opposite him, in a tone that brooked no argument.
