It was over an hour later by the time she came out of the bathroom.
A pleasant warmth enveloped her, and Seraphina Ashworth squinted in comfort. Just as she was drowsily drifting off to sleep, a deep voice chased away her sleepiness.
"Gwen, aren't you going to say something to me?"
'Damn it! I thought I could get away with it, but it looks like there's no escape.' Seraphina Ashworth reached out and grabbed the collar of Caden Reginald's robe, burying her head in his chest. "You already know everything, don't you!"
Caden Reginald looked down at the head of dark hair nestled against his chest, a hint of tenderness appearing deep within his dark eyes. He reached out to gently stroke her smooth, silky hair. "Gwen, I don't want you to get hurt. Not even for me!"
'He loved her. To him, she was more important than his own life. He didn't want her to come to any harm—not even for his sake. He couldn't bear it; his heart would break.'
