The Ashworth Family's home was more lively today than it had been all year. News of Seraphina Ashworth's return yesterday had spread, and since it was the weekend, the three great families had arranged a gathering. The Reginald Family arrived bright and early, shortly after nine, with the Blaine Family following close behind. The entire living room was buzzing with activity.
The men were all drinking tea and discussing national affairs, while the women chatted about household matters off to one side. The younger generation, meanwhile, was gathered in a boisterous group, talking and laughing.
"Why isn't Seraphina awake yet? I still want to ask her about her and Caden," Anya Reginald said with playful exasperation, glancing toward the doorway every now and then.
Aurora Reginald turned to look at Anya Reginald, her almond-shaped eyes curving into crescents as she smiled. She chuckled and teased, "Why are you so nosy?"
