Stella Sterling called Roman Rhodes.
"Are you awake?"
His rich voice was laced with a gravelly texture from nicotine.
Deep and pleasant.
"When did you leave?" Stella asked.
"Around nine," Roman said lightly. "Breakfast is on the table. Did you see it?"
Stella said she did, then asked, "Did you go to the office?"
"Yeah. I have to deal with the work that's piled up. It'll probably take some time."
"Will you be free for lunch?"
"I might have a management meeting. If you want to come over, have Brandon Coleman come downstairs to get you."
Stella mulled it over for a few seconds. "Okay, you get back to work. We'll talk at noon."
After eating breakfast,
Stella gathered her things, ready to head back to Crescent Lane.
She called Butler Tate ahead of time, asking him to prepare some restorative and nutritious meals.
Hearing this, Butler Tate's heart immediately ached for her.
He was certain the second young miss must have suffered quite a bit while she was away.
