While his doctoral team began working on the research proposal and thesis optimization, Wu Ting also started on his regular duties at the research center.
According to Director Huo's plan, the emergency department was about to apply to become a key provincial specialty for laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment. To that end, Wu Ting had to quickly get two surgical techniques up and running: EST and its modified version, ESPBD.
Besides Wu Ting, Deputy Director Qin Donglai, Director Cai Qi from hepatobiliary surgery, and attending physician Lu Xuejun were all slated to be trained as chief surgeons for these two techniques. Yasui and Luo Ming, meanwhile, would learn to assist them.
Using the ERCP training simulator left behind by Dr. Wang Nanjin, Director Qin and Lu Xuejun had both mastered the fundamentals of ERCP over this period. This gave them the foundational knowledge needed to learn EST.
