It wasn't just Mackenzie Lynch; even Juliet Lyons was amused by Zane Lynch's inexplicably disheveled appearance. The bit of panic and helplessness from running into her ex-boyfriend again after so many years apart also faded considerably.
"Did someone beat you up?"
Zane Lynch covered the bruise on his face, grinning a little foolishly. "Are you worried about me?"
Juliet Lyons: "???" 'Where on earth did he get that idea!'
Mackenzie Lynch: "..." 'Eloise's cousin didn't get his brain scrambled, did he?'
Juliet Lyons rolled her eyes, speechless. "I'm just curious which hero was so skilled as to beat you into this sorry state. Truly a role model for us all, what a satisfying sight!"
Instead of getting angry, Zane Lynch only grew more excited. "You have such a good impression of her. Want to meet her? She really wants to meet you too."
