The searing sunlight melted the last sheets of ice across the temperate and tropical zones, yet no one could muster a smile.
The meteorologists who had been confidently discussing the future on television were suddenly struck dumb. They rushed to the window, muttering to themselves, "Impossible... How could this be? This is a matter for astronomers now..."
