After lunch, Wu Yun pulled the two women, who had just showered, into bed for a nap that lasted over an hour. Another two pairs of stockings were torn in the process.
"DRING DRING DRING~"
The alarm clock rang, startling the three of them from their deep sleep.
On a summer afternoon, the more you sleep, the more you want to sleep. Wu Yun rubbed his eyes, pulled his arms free, and gave each of the women a pat on the butt, waking the two languid figures.
By the time the two women had put on some light makeup and were ready to leave, it was already 2:20.
Luckily, all twelve interview candidates were scheduled for three o'clock. To make things easier, the women had scheduled everyone for the same start time, intending to conduct the interviews in one block.
The day before, Wu Ying and Jiang Xinyi had posted job openings. They were mostly for department head positions, such as HR, finance, marketing, and talent agents.
In 2014, the salary levels in Rongcheng weren't very high. There was still a huge gap compared to first-tier cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Jobs with a monthly salary of over 10,000 yuan were either in sales or nightlife. Very few ordinary people earned that much; office jobs typically paid around 3,000 to 6,000 yuan.
The two women had referenced the industry standards on 58.com. The salaries listed in their job postings were in the mid-to-high range for similar positions. Paired with photos of the work environment, the listings attracted a large number of applicants overnight.
This was despite the company being newly registered on 58.com, without even a business license to its name.
Taking a notebook and a sign-in log they'd bought that morning, the three of them opened the office's automatic doors. Staring at the bare wall behind the reception desk, Wu Yun slapped his forehead. "How could I forget to get the company logo and name made? After the interviews, I'll have Zhang Fei recommend someone who does signs."
Then, the three of them walked inside, discussing which two partitioned offices would serve as offices for the deputy managers and gesturing how the desks and chairs should be arranged.
At 2:45, Wu Yun took Wu Ying to tidy up the boss's office. In reality, there wasn't much to tidy up—just arranging the chair and setting out some paper and pens.
Jiang Xinyi, meanwhile, went to the entrance to play the part of the receptionist.
When Jiang Xinyi reached the entrance, she found a man and a woman already standing there, resumes in hand, peering into the office.
Seeing Jiang Xinyi walk over, the man's eyes lit up. He instantly developed a much better impression of the company he was about to interview with. 'Even the receptionist is this gorgeous and sexy!'
"Hello, I'm Lin Fjun. I scheduled an interview for three o'clock yesterday on 58.com."
"Hello, I'm Wang Ying," said the other woman, who was slightly chubby and in her thirties.
"Hello," Jiang Xinyi said. "First, please sign in here. The interviews will start at three, and we'll go in this order. Give me your resumes for now. You're welcome to look around the office, and then you can wait in the large conference room." Her voice sent a shiver through Lin Fjun, making him decide that he absolutely had to ask this beautiful receptionist for her WeChat after his interview.
........
"DING!" The elevator doors opened. Cui Baomin straightened his short-sleeved white shirt and then noticed an A4 sheet of paper taped to the wall of the elevator lobby. An arrow and the words "Xingyun Media" were printed on it in Songti font.
Cui Baomin, along with a few others from the elevator, followed the arrow's direction toward the Xingyun Media office.
From a distance, he could see a beautiful receptionist standing behind the front desk, signing in interviewees, pointing inside, and saying something.
Cui Baomin hesitated. Although the reception area looked newly renovated, the company didn't even have a proper sign. The 58.com listing had clearly stated it was a startup, but his years of work experience made him wonder. 'Could this be a shell company?'
"Hello, I'm Cui Baomin. I have an interview scheduled for three." He thought, 'Well, since I'm already here, I might as well check it out. If I'm serious about changing jobs, I need to compare all my options.'
A soft, sweet voice replied, which greatly improved his impression of the receptionist. "Please sign in here first. The interviews will be conducted in this order. After you've signed in, feel free to look around. Just be seated in the conference room before three."
Cui Baomin finished signing in and walked in the direction the beautiful receptionist had pointed. The first thing he saw was a large open-plan office with dozens of workstations. The white desks and chairs, along with the green dividers between them, looked very clean and tidy, a perfect match for the modern decor.
'It really does look like a brand-new company,' Cui Baomin thought. 'If it's a legitimate business, it seems pretty well-funded.'
Cui Baomin saw that several people were already seated in the conference room behind the floor-to-ceiling glass wall in the distance. He glanced at the corridor with the small partitioned offices but didn't go in, heading straight for the conference room instead.
He found an empty chair in the conference room and sat down. Feeling the soft cushioning, Cui Baomin leaned back comfortably. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that the people around him weren't young; he guessed today's interviews were for manager-level positions.
.......
Within a dozen or so minutes, all twelve of the candidates scheduled from the previous day had arrived.
Jiang Xinyi collected the sign-in log and turned to walk toward the boss's office where Wu Yun and Wu Ying were waiting.
"President Wu, everyone's here! Can we start the interviews now?" Jiang Xinyi asked, rolling her eyes as she handed the stack of sorted resumes to Wu Yun.
"Well, Miss Receptionist, aren't you going to call the first person in for their interview?" Wu Yun said, feigning a serious tone with a grand wave of his hand.
Wu Ying was snickering off to the side.
Jiang Xinyi made a face at Wu Yun before heading to the conference room to call for Lin Fjun, the first candidate for the Head of Marketing position.
"The interviews are starting. First up, Lin Fjun, please follow me."
Lin Fjun followed behind Jiang Xinyi, his eyes fixed on her graceful back and perky bottom. He swallowed hard. At 30, he was still single due to his constant travel for work, and while he'd been with plenty of women, he'd never encountered one quite like this beautiful receptionist.
.......
Jiang Xinyi led Lin Fjun into the innermost office—the boss's office—and walked around the desk to sit down on Wu Yun's left.
This made Lin Fjun freeze for a moment, surprised by the beautiful receptionist's status.
His gaze then shifted to Wu Yun, who was sitting in the middle, and the woman next to him, who was every bit as beautiful as the receptionist.
"Please, have a seat!" Wu Yun's words snapped Lin Fjun back to reality. Though surprised by Wu Yun's youth, he thought, 'After so many years in marketing, what kind of person haven't I met?'
"Lin Fjun, I've reviewed your resume. Your experience is extensive, and your skills and track record meet our expectations. Now, we have a couple of questions for you." Wu Yun had already finished reading the resume while Lin Fjun was walking over. The man's experience was indeed rich: he had been a pharmaceutical rep, sold related products, and even worked as a sales supervisor.
