Inside a private hospital.
The inpatient wing was dead silent. The harsh white lights of the corridor were as pale as frost, casting an eerie glow after nightfall.
Julian Griffin stood at a corner of the hallway, hesitating. He didn't dare to go.
"It's already one in the morning. Aren't you going in?" Ina Sutton said, annoyed.
"Maybe... we should just forget it."
Julian Griffin was a coward.
Even if he succeeded, he'd be in deep trouble if the Monroe and Jacobs families came after him later.
"What exactly are you afraid of?"
"Her brother is Kian Jacobs! Don't you know his reputation in Northgate? If he finds out I plotted against his sister, he'll kill me!"
"He's far away in Northgate. Once you two have slept together and made it a public affair, Kian Jacobs will have to consider Joyce Monroe's reputation, even if he wants to blame you," Ina Sutton goaded, fanning the flames.
"Julian Griffin, are you even a man?!"
"Besides, I found out something from my dad."
