Zoe Rhodes awkwardly touched her nose. She only dared to speak after the partition in the back seat was raised, but she still kept her voice low, afraid the driver might hear.
"I'm out right now. I didn't hang up on you; I just didn't hear it ring."
"Is that so? You certainly got my text message quickly enough. Called back in thirty-two seconds. How unexpected."
