On the bus, Zoe Rhodes fished two coins out of her pocket and dropped them in the fare box.
She had secretly hidden them on her person yesterday.
But she hadn't dared to hide more, afraid Donovan Donovan would find out.
It was barely enough for a round trip on the bus, not a single coin more.
After getting off the bus, she walked another kilometer before she found the office building where the Hawthorne Group was located.
This area was on Capella's most bustling commercial street, an excellent location.
When she was still in school, she had come here with Zane Hawthorne before.
That day, the two of them had just left the library when it happened to start raining, so they came to his family's company to wait out the storm.
The moment she stepped inside, Zoe Rhodes was stopped by the receptionist.
She touched the mask on her face and said softly, "Hello, is Zane Hawthorne in?"
"What is your name? Do you have an appointment?" the receptionist asked, following procedure.
