Alex Grant got up and walked to the door of the hospital room.
Suddenly, he paused and turned back to look at Evelyn Grant. "Sis, why don't you eat something else for now? There's a supermarket downstairs. I can buy you something first. Then, once you're discharged, I'll go get you those pastries!"
"…What's wrong?"
"If I go, you'll be all alone in the room. I'm worried something might happen."
The round trip would take at least half an hour.
Alex was worried his sister would faint again, and what if the doctor didn't notice in time?
"It's fine… There are nurses in the hospital. They'll come in to check on me often! And look… I'm doing pretty well right now. If I eat something… I'll feel even better."
"Alright then! I'll go tell the doctor to keep a closer eye on you! He won't have to once I'm back!" Alex Grant was still just a kid, not very perceptive. All he wanted was for his sister to get better, so he didn't think about anything else.
