Sean Shaw had actually thrown a small welcome-back party for her, complete with flowers and a gift. Not a single colleague from the law firm was absent—everyone came to celebrate.
How could Evelyn Grant not be moved?
"Mr. Shaw, you really shouldn't have! I've caused the firm so much trouble, and yet you still did all this for me..."
Sean Shaw waved a hand, cutting her off. "Not at all, not at all! I was just following orders."
Evelyn froze. "Following orders?"
"Ah..." A guilty look flashed across his face, and he quickly corrected himself. "I misspoke. I meant I was following my... heart! You've been with our firm for three years, you're a veteran employee. Now that you've been cleared of suspicion after that whole ordeal, I had to do something to mark the occasion!"
"Well, I still have to thank you for being so understanding, Mr. Shaw!"
