After giving her reply, Summer Thorne slowly sank into a squat, still taking deep, unsteady breaths.
Through the phone, Timothy York could clearly hear her every breath.
He knew she was trying desperately to calm down and get a grip on herself.
He knew just how awful it felt.
It would probably be much better if someone were there with her.
But at this moment, he was on the other end of a phone line, utterly unable to comfort her with just his words.
Timothy York slowly closed his eyes.
After what felt like an eternity, Summer Thorne's voice finally came through the phone again.
"I'm okay now. Don't worry."
Her voice was faint, tinged with the listlessness of utter exhaustion.
Timothy York could just imagine how awful she must look. "I'll come get you," he said quickly.
"Don't," Summer Thorne said in a low voice. "I want to stay here a little longer. You don't need to worry."
