It had to be said, Mason Crawford really knew how to torment a person.
A simple sentence, just a few words, was all it took to get on Summer Thorne's nerves.
Just like now.
Summer Thorne let out a soft breath, then gave him a slight smile. "It's common knowledge that I don't have a mother. So, I don't know what you're talking about."
"What's the point of lying to yourself?"
"There is no point," Summer Thorne replied. "But is there any point in two people who have nothing to do with me forcing themselves to get together and talk about me?"
Mason Crawford hadn't seen Summer Thorne this confrontational in a long time.
She had once hated him to the bone, so much so that she'd dared to slap him in public. But ever since Austin Sutton and his wife passed away, she seemed to have changed. Though she still wouldn't give him the time of day, she couldn't be bothered to argue with him anymore.
