When Summer Thorne walked into the hospital room, Louis Sutton was lying quietly in bed, his face pale and his brow furrowed as he watched the police officers leave.
Only when he saw Summer Thorne did he look away, turning his gaze to her without a word.
He waited until the police were completely gone before asking Summer Thorne, "What happened?"
"The other party isn't pressing charges, so they dropped the case."
This answer clearly stunned Louis Sutton. He seemed unable to process it for a long moment.
Summer Thorne glanced at the wound on his forehead, then at his wrist. She paused before asking, "What was that about? Your sudden... loss of control?"
Louis Sutton fell silent for a moment before admitting slowly, "I was faking it."
Summer Thorne was speechless.
But Louis Sutton continued, "Wasn't it you who said that since I was already putting myself on the line, I might as well go a little further?"
