It wasn't until the car was some distance from the hotel that Summer Thorne, sitting inside, seemed to come to her senses.
She looked at Ivan Gray, who was driving, and asked, "What brought you here tonight?"
"A few senior executives were having a dinner meeting nearby," Ivan Gray said. "We never thought we'd run into you. What on earth happened?"
"It was nothing," Summer Thorne replied. "It's already been handled."
Since she answered that way, Ivan Gray didn't press her for more details.
Just then, his phone chimed.
Ivan Gray glanced at the message and immediately frowned. Taking advantage of a stop at a red light, he switched on the interior light and glanced back at Summer Thorne's wrist.
"What happened to your wrist? It looks worse."
Summer Thorne froze, then looked down at her wrist.
It did look worse, but she hadn't noticed at all.
Ivan Gray sighed. "Mr. York said to take you to the hospital first."
