Summer Thorne slowly raised her head and saw Renee Rowan standing before her.
"You look pale. Have you been drinking a lot?" Renee Rowan asked with concern. "Are you all right?"
Summer Thorne shook her head and managed a smile as she greeted her. "Miss Rowan, are you dining here as well?"
Renee Rowan nodded. She hesitated for a moment before speaking again. "I think… I saw you with Silas Dunn and his group? Mrs. Crawford, why would you be sitting with people like that?"
Summer Thorne took a deep breath. "I have no choice. A debt owed… must be repaid."
"What kind of debt could you possibly owe him? That absolute scumbag…" Renee Rowan's face was full of disgust, her brow furrowed. "Never mind him for now. Come over to our room and get some rest."
Without giving Summer Thorne a chance to refuse, Renee Rowan pulled her along to her private room.
She pushed open the door to the room. Inside, a few young women were sitting around, chatting and laughing.
