Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: The Shadows of the Olimpico

The Stadio Olimpico was humming with the electric tension of a Roman coliseum. This wasn't just a 24th-round league match; it was a score-settling. For Fiorentina, the memory of losing their Champions League spot in this very stadium last year was a scar that hadn't healed.

"I still see that 1-0 loss in my nightmares," Juan Cuadrado muttered as the team lined up in the tunnel. He pointed to Captain Pasqual at the front of the line. "The Captain has been here ten years. He's only heard that Champions League anthem once. Last year was our best chance to get him back there... and Lazio took it from us."

Renzo looked at Pasqual's rigid back. In the world of football, the Champions League isn't just a tournament; it's the summit. For a 16-year-old like Renzo, the future seemed infinite. But for veterans in their thirties, every missed qualification is a door closing forever.

The somber mood was suddenly broken by a sharp crack of silence in the tunnel. Two giants of German football were standing toe-to-toe.

On one side: Mario Gómez, the "Torero" of Florence, currently on a scorching run of 6 goals in 5 games.

On the other: Miroslav Klose, the all-time World Cup top scorer and the aging king of the Blue Eagles.

"They're going to scrap," a younger Fiorentina player whispered. "Gómez is the one who pushed Klose out of Bayern Munich back in the day. There's zero love lost there."

The two men stared. The air grew cold.

"Gómez," Klose finally spoke, his voice gravelly. "You've gained weight."

"Klose," Gómez replied, eyes narrowing. "You've gotten old."

Then, to the shock of everyone expecting a brawl, both men erupted into laughter and pulled each other into a bone-crushing hug.

"I saw you lost here last year, kid," Klose teased, patting Gómez on the shoulder. "Planning on making it a tradition?"

Gómez's smile didn't fade, but his eyes sharpened with a new kind of confidence. He didn't point to the tactical board or the captain. He stepped aside and pointed directly at Renzo Uzumaki.

"Last year was 'Before Renzo,' Miro," Gómez said, his voice ringing through the tunnel. "We have a genius in the engine room now. Fiorentina isn't the same team you bullied last season. You better tell your defenders to bring their oxygen masks—they're going to be doing a lot of chasing today."

Klose glanced at Renzo. He had heard the rumors of the "Merseyside Maestro" tearing up the league, but seeing the calm, analytical gaze of the 16-year-old up close was different.

"A genius, eh?" Klose turned back toward the pitch as the referees signaled the walk-out. "Let's see if your genius can handle the pressure of Rome."
