Chapter 2 - An odd School

It has been a month since my mom and I moved to italy and I must say, her parents her stinking rich. I can't count how many times grandma Trisha took me out shopping in a day. I do not want to tell her how tiring it is to go shopping with her in order not to be perceived as ungrateful but shopping is not really my thing.

"Do you like the Prada dress or the YSL tweed dress?" She inquires before raising her thick brows at me. "Never mind choosing, karina. We are not in need of money so i'll just buy the whole shop" she tugged a strand of her blond hair behind her ears as if waiting for praises to be showered on her. My eye widen in shock at the lady now known as my grandma. Did I even yell her I wanted to go shopping? Never mind that. It's time to put on an act to make her think I am so fascinated by her 'generosity'.

"Omg, granny! You are the best" i feign excitment as I watch her already swollen ego inflate more.

"Speaking of the best, you start school tomorrow at River Blue high" she states before dragging me towards the next shop. Geez, is my life even my own anymore? Let me answer that. No

I step out of the car and my legs meet with the concrete ground of the school's car park. I was joining in as a boarding student but I resumed late so I do not have the luxury of freshening up in the dorm. I order for my luggage to be sent to my room before walking into the school building with my head held high. "Hi, i am daphne" a girl with cat-like eyes came my way and I wonder what in my appearance gave her the idea that I needed company. My face was as stern as i could muster it to be and it always worked in my old school.

"Do you need me to show you to your class. I figured you must be new here since tou are not putting on out uniform and..." she keeps talking on and on as my mind wander away from the conversation. Actually, it is clearly not a conversation since she is the only one talking but..

"Watch out!" The loud voice of another girl pulls me out of whirlwind of thoughts just to see Daphne's teeth sinking into my shoulder. What a stupid vamp she is. Attacking in broad daylight?

The girl that called my attention to Daphne twists Daphne neck aggressively and causing her to fall on the ground with a loud thud. The deed as already been done to my injured shoulder as blood kept seeping out from the gash that would surely leave a scar.

I star at the vampire on the floor and back at the girl in front of me."don't worry, she is not dead. Anyways, i am Nora" she introduces and i sigh. I was actually not bothered if the bitch was dead or not. I only wanted to pull out one of her fangs for my creature collection because I heard that vampires are really rare this days but I guess Nora read too much into the fact that I was staring.

"I have never seen a school that accepts supernaturals" i say to Nora and she nods in agreement.

"That is why i was so happy to be enrolled into this school. It might be odd but aren't we all?" she smiles at me before she starts fading away like a withering flower. She is right. The school was indeed odd.
