Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: Frost the Hypocrite

Feeling Champa's gaze bore into him, Cabba felt an overwhelming wave of pressure.

"Hey, Cabba. Can you do that golden, sparkly transformation?"

"Um... Lord Champa, I cannot," Cabba answered honestly.

"Tch. Useless."

Champa turned his attention back to the ring, losing interest in Cabba immediately. Cabba wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. The pressure Champa exerted was simply too much to handle.

In Universe 6, the situation was different from Universe 7. Champa was constantly wandering the universe in search of delicious food, meaning the people of Universe 6 were quite familiar with their God of Destruction.

He was the polar opposite of Beerus, who slept so long that even his own Supreme Kai, Shin, barely recognized him. Right, Shin?

Back in the ring, Goku completed his transformation. His golden aura flared, instantly suppressing his opponent's Ki.

Sizzle! Sizzle!

Feeling the crushing weight of Goku's power, Frost realized he could no longer hold back. He unleashed his own power, a purple Ki erupting in a terrifying display of force.

As the purple light faded, Frost's new form was revealed.

His previously massive frame had become sleek and compact. Aside from the color of his skin, he looked identical to Frieza's final form. Wrapped in a purple aura, he charged, colliding with Son Goku.

Vegeta scoffed from the sidelines.

"Hmph. Just as I thought. This underhanded rat is exactly like Frieza. No—he's actually worse. At least Frieza is honest about being a monster. This guy reeks of hypocrisy from head to toe."

"Ho ho ho! Frost can transform again! This time, victory is ours!" Champa cheered, finally relaxing. Frost had clearly been outmatched before, but now the playing field seemed level.

"Hmph. It's too early to talk about victory and defeat," Beerus muttered, shooting Champa a disdainful look.

To Beerus, this was just a standard Super Saiyan transformation. Goku had several more levels beyond this. Who was this Frost guy anyway? How could he possibly compare to Goku?

And yet, things were about to take an unexpected turn.

"Son Goku! Let's settle this!" Frost roared, his purple aura exploding.

"Hah!"

Goku met the challenge, his golden Ki flaring with equal intensity.

Both fighters vanished. In the next heartbeat, their fists collided in the center of the ring.

Boom!

The shockwave sent a massive crack spider-webbing across the stage.

Frost felt the sheer force vibrating through his arm and a flash of disbelief crossed his eyes. He quickly retreated, throwing a Ki blast at Goku.

Slap!

Goku swatted the energy orb away as if it were a fly.

Immediately, Frost unleashed the legendary "Prince's Technique."

"Ha! Ta! Ta! Ta! Ta!"

A barrage of purple energy spheres rained down on Goku like a meteor shower. Goku's hands became a blur, slapping every single Ki blast aside. As the energy spheres hit the barrier surrounding the ring, they kicked up a thick curtain of dust.

Seeing the dust obscure everyone's vision, a sinister smirk flickered across Frost's face. He closed the distance instantly and threw a punch.

Clap!

Goku reacted perfectly, catching Frost's fist in his palm.

"Hmph!"

Frost powered up and threw another punch.

Clap!

Goku caught the other hand as well.

Feeling Frost struggling to break free, Goku grinned. He drove his knee hard into Frost's chin.

Thwack!

Frost was sent flying backward, but as he tumbled through the air, the corners of his mouth curled upward.

From the spectator area, Piccolo's sharp Namekian eyes caught the subtle movement. His senses were far more acute than a human's.

"Tch. How underhanded. Goku fell for it."

"Hmph... Mr. Goku, you really are strong," Frost panted, putting on a show. "But I have a reason why I absolutely must win this match. HAA!"

Frost powered up again and charged. It had to be said—the man's acting was top-tier. He was practically owed an Oscar.

"Tch. The guy is completely outclassed by Kakarot. Why hasn't he surrendered yet?" Vegeta complained.

But the result caught everyone—except Turles and Piccolo—completely off guard.

Just as Goku was about to clash with Frost again, his eyes suddenly glazed over. His strength seemed to evaporate instantly, and Frost landed a hit that sent him spiraling out of the ring.

Thud.

Goku hit the ground outside the boundary, his golden hair fading back to black as he reverted to his base form.

"Son Goku has been knocked out of the ring! Frost is the winner!"

"What?!"

"That's impossible!"

The Universe 7 team cried out in shock. They knew exactly how strong Goku was. He had been dominating the fight just seconds ago—how could he lose so suddenly?

Goku came to shortly after. "Huh? I lost?"

"You're really something," Goku said, looking at Frost. "Though I'm not quite sure what technique you used..."

"Ho ho ho. You're too kind, Mr. Goku. It was merely a stroke of luck," Frost replied, bowing with the grace of a true gentleman.

"Oh dear, it seems Mr. Goku has lost..." Whis said, shaking his head.

Goku still hadn't realized what Frost had done. It looked like his training regime would have to be doubled from now on...

"Tch. What the hell was Goku doing?" Beerus grumbled. He turned to Piccolo. "Piccolo, go out there and give that guy a proper thrashing. And don't be like Goku—he was way too careless!"

With Beerus's level of power, how could he not see Frost's trick? He only kept quiet to save Champa some face.

Piccolo nodded, a cold, ruthless smile appearing on his face. "Don't worry, Lord Beerus. I'll make sure he remembers this fight for a long time."

He reached up and dramatically cast aside his weighted cape and turban. The heavy gear slammed into the ground with a resounding thud.

Beerus's eyebrow twitched. Since when did this guy become such a show-off?

Piccolo looked at the still-clueless Goku and shook his head. Had Goku's battle instincts really dullled this much?

He patted Goku on the shoulder as they passed. "Goku, has your guard really dropped this low?"

As Piccolo walked toward the ring, Goku frowned, initially confused by the remark.

Wait... did something prick me earlier?

Goku raised his right hand and inspected his palm. There, right in the center, was a tiny, microscopic puncture mark.

Goku let out a self-deprecating laugh. "When did I become so careless?"
