Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: The Last Test

The campus was bathed in late afternoon sunlight, warm and golden, but an uneasy tension lingered in the air. Arjun and Sana had spent the morning recovering from the previous nights' chaos, catching up on sleep and talking quietly. Yet, deep down, both knew that the mastermind's warning — "it's only just beginning" — still echoed in their minds.

Sana leaned against Arjun as they walked toward the student center. "Do you really think it's over?" she asked, glancing at him.

Arjun's jaw was set, eyes scanning the paths ahead. "I hope so… but we have to be ready. Whoever's behind all of this has one last move. I can feel it."

Before Sana could respond, a sudden commotion erupted near the courtyard. Students screamed and scattered as smoke flared, sending panic through the campus. Arjun immediately pulled Sana behind a low wall, shielding her.

"There!" he shouted, pointing to a shadowy figure stepping through the smoke — the mastermind's final attempt to corner them. But this time, the figure had underestimated something: the bond between Arjun and Sana.

Arjun moved with unmatched speed, coordinating silently with Sana. They worked as one, anticipating each other's moves. Sana ducked, grabbed objects to distract, and helped Arjun regain his footing after attacks. Every glance, every touch, every instinctive move reminded them of the weeks they had spent fighting together.

Finally, cornered and defeated, the mastermind faltered. Arjun stepped forward, chest heaving, voice steady but fierce. "It's over. You've lost."

The mastermind's eyes flickered with disbelief, then faded into grudging respect. "Perhaps… you're stronger together than I imagined," they said, voice low. "But remember… love can be a weakness as well as a strength."

Arjun's hand found Sana's, squeezing it tightly. "Then it's a strength we'll never let go of."

Sana smiled, tears brimming. "We survived because we were together. Nothing else matters."

As the last traces of danger disappeared and campus security arrived, Arjun pulled Sana close. "I promised I'd protect you," he murmured, forehead against hers.

"You did," Sana whispered back, resting her head on his chest. "And I promise, I'll always be by your side. Always."

For the first time in weeks, the storm of danger and fear truly passed. They walked through the courtyard hand in hand, hearts light, spirits unbroken, and love stronger than ever.

Cliffhanger: The immediate threats are gone, but the echoes of the past will always linger. Can Arjun and Sana finally embrace the peace they've fought for — and take the next step in their journey together?
