Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Shadows and Secrets

The crash at the café had left Sana frozen in the garden. Her hands were still trembling from the adrenaline of the moment — and from the kiss she couldn't stop replaying in her mind.

She waited, heart hammering, as Arjun disappeared inside. Minutes felt like hours. Then, she heard the faint murmur of voices — one of them sharp, commanding, and unfamiliar.

Sana's instincts screamed at her to run, but she couldn't leave. Not when Arjun was in danger.

She tiptoed closer, peeking around the corner of the building. Inside, two figures loomed over the counter, rummaging through cash and bags. Arjun stood between them and the staff, his eyes dark and focused, every movement precise and deliberate.

"Stop!" he commanded, his voice echoing with authority. "You're not getting away with this."

One of the figures lunged at him, and in a blur, Arjun sidestepped, disarming them with a swift, almost effortless motion. Sana's breath caught — she had never seen anyone move like that before.

The second figure bolted toward the back exit, but Arjun was faster. Within moments, both intruders were subdued. He turned, eyes scanning the café, then softened when he saw Sana standing hidden by the wall.

"You shouldn't be here," he said, striding toward her. His voice was low, warning, but there was something else — a flicker of relief, of concern.

"I… I couldn't just stay away," Sana admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "I… I need to know you're okay."

Arjun's expression softened, and he reached for her hand. The simple touch sent a spark through her, grounding her in the moment despite the chaos around them.

"You're reckless," he said, shaking his head with a small smile, though his dark eyes held worry. "But… I like that about you."

Sana's cheeks warmed, and before she could respond, Arjun pulled her into a quick hug. It was brief but full of meaning — protective, intimate, and reassuring. Sana felt her heart swell.

"Arjun… why are people after you?" she asked softly, voice trembling. "Who are they?"

He hesitated, running a hand through his hair. "It's complicated. Some people from… my past aren't happy with me. I can't explain everything yet. But you… you have to trust me. Okay?"

Sana nodded, feeling a mix of fear and trust. "I trust you," she whispered.

Arjun's gaze softened, and for a heartbeat, everything seemed calm. Then, the sound of a motorbike revving outside made them both tense.

Arjun's eyes narrowed. "Not again." He glanced at Sana. "Stay here. Don't move."

Sana wanted to argue, wanted to run toward him, but she stayed put, watching as Arjun stepped out. The black bike skidded to a halt, and a masked rider jumped off, scanning the area.

Arjun's movements were swift and precise. A flash of metal, a struggle, and the figure was subdued, pinned against the wall. Arjun's dark eyes met Sana's briefly — a silent promise that he would protect her, no matter what.

Sana's heart raced — part from fear, part from adrenaline, and part from the undeniable pull she felt toward him.

As Arjun secured the masked intruder and returned to her side, he muttered under his breath, "They're getting bolder. This isn't over."

Sana's hand found his, gripping it tightly. "Then… we face it together," she said, her voice steady despite the fear.

Arjun looked at her, a mixture of surprise and warmth crossing his features. "Together," he agreed, and in that moment, the world seemed to shrink around them — danger, chaos, and college life fading away, leaving only the two of them.

Cliffhanger: Who is behind these attacks, and how far will they go to reach Arjun? Can Sana and Arjun survive the danger while keeping their growing feelings for each other alive?
