Rin remained on the balcony long after the others had gone to sleep.
His hand was still warm from Kaelith's. He looked down at it.
Then at the night sky. Then back at his hand.
"...What am I doing?"
He sighed.
He had spent an unreasonable amount of time trying to solve ancient mysteries and somehow, the thing occupying his mind most right now was the fact that he had willingly held Kaelith's hand.
That was ridiculous. He had survived curses. Gods. Ancient ruins. Strange memories.
A System that seemed determined to give him more problems than answers.
And yet somehow—
holding Kaelith's hand had made him nervous. Rin covered his face.
"This is embarrassing."
A quiet laugh came from beside him.
Rin froze. He slowly turned. Kaelith was still there.
"You heard that?"
"Yes."
"How long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough."
Rin groaned.
"I thought you left."
"I was going to."
"And?"
Kaelith looked at him.
"I changed my mind."
Rin's heart skipped.
"Why?"
