Chapter 1 - The Rainy meeting

The rain hadn't stopped since that evening.

It had been three days, yet the sound of raindrops still echoed in Aisha's heart like a memory she couldn't escape. Every drop reminded her of that moment—the way Aarav had looked at her, standing under the broken shelter, his eyes holding something unspoken, something deeper than words.

Aisha sat by her window, watching the grey sky stretch endlessly. Her notebook lay open, untouched. For the first time in months, she couldn't write. Her thoughts weren't her own anymore—they belonged to him.

"Why does this feel so different?" she whispered to herself.

She had met people before. Talked, laughed, even trusted a few. But this… this felt like a quiet storm inside her. Gentle, yet powerful enough to change everything.

Just then, her phone buzzed.

Unknown Number.

Her heart skipped.

She stared at the screen, hesitating. Something inside her already knew. Slowly, she picked it up.

"Hello?"

There was a pause. Then a familiar voice, soft yet steady.

"Aisha… it's Aarav."

Her breath caught. For a moment, she forgot how to respond.

"How did you get my number?" she finally asked, trying to sound normal.

"I… I asked the café owner near the bus stop. I hope you don't mind."

Mind? She should mind. But she didn't.

"No… it's okay," she said quietly.

Another pause followed, filled only with the faint sound of rain on the other side.

"I wanted to see you again," Aarav said, his voice almost a whisper. "I don't know why… but I felt like if I didn't, I'd regret it."

Her fingers tightened around the phone.

Aisha closed her eyes. Her heart was answering before her mind could even think.

"Tomorrow evening," she said softly. "Same place."

The next day, the rain returned—as if the sky itself wanted to witness their story.

Aisha reached the bus stop early. The air was cool, the ground wet, and the scent of rain wrapped around her like a memory waiting to happen.

She wore a simple blue dress, the same color as the sky before it rains.

Minutes felt like hours.

Then she saw him.

Aarav walked toward her, holding a black umbrella. His hair was slightly damp, his eyes searching… until they found her.

And in that moment, everything else faded.

"You came," he said, a small smile forming.

"You called," she replied, trying to hide her nervousness.

They stood there, just looking at each other, unsure of what to say next.

Finally, Aarav stepped closer and held the umbrella over both of them.

"I've been thinking about you," he admitted.

Aisha looked down, her cheeks warming.

"Why?" she asked, almost teasing.

He smiled faintly. "Because you felt like someone I've known forever… even though I just met you."

Her heart melted at his words.

"I felt that too," she confessed.

The rain grew heavier, drumming against the umbrella. But neither of them moved away.

"Can I ask you something?" Aarav said.

She nodded.

"Do you believe that some meetings aren't accidents?"

Aisha looked up at him, her eyes shining.

"I didn't before," she said softly. "But now… I think some people are meant to meet, no matter what."

Aarav's gaze deepened.

"Then maybe… we were meant to meet in the rain."

A silence followed—but it wasn't empty. It was filled with feelings too real to explain.

For the first time, Aisha didn't want to run from her emotions.

For the first time, she wanted to stay.

And as the rain continued to fall, two strangers slowly began to feel like something more—something destined.

But neither of them knew… that this beautiful beginning would soon be tested by truths they weren't ready to face.
