Chapter 50 - 50 - Kushi's Calling

The heat of our exertion slowly dissipated, replaced by a profound, bone-deep satisfaction. The room was quiet now, save for the sound of our breathing slowly returning to normal. I lay on my back, feeling utterly spent, a lazy grin plastered on my face. Kushi, beside me, propped herself up on an elbow, her hair a wild, tangled halo around her face. She looked at me, and the expression in her eyes was something I'd never seen from her before. It wasn't just lust, or gratitude, or even affection. It was pure, unadulterated adoration. She looked lovestruck, utterly captivated.

Slowly, seductively, she rolled over, pressing her naked body against mine. Her skin was still warm and damp with sweat, and the feeling of her soft curves molding against my side was pure bliss. She leaned in, her lips finding mine in a kiss that was different from all the others. It wasn't hungry or demanding, but soft, tender, and full of a deep, emotional resonance.

We made out for what felt like an eternity, a slow, languid exploration of mouths and tongues. Her hands roamed over my chest, her touch light and reverent. "Thank you," she whispered between kisses, her voice thick with emotion. "Thank you, Sid. That was... everything." She kept repeating it, a litany of gratitude against my lips, her body pressing closer, as if she could merge with me completely.

I was floating, lost in a haze of pleasure and contentment. The feel of her, the taste of her, the sound of her voice... it was all a perfect, soothing symphony that lulled me into a state of pure, unadulterated bliss. I felt myself drifting, my consciousness slowly slipping away, sinking into a deep, dreamless sleep, a smile still on my face.

"Are you fucking kidding me?"

The sharp, furious voice cut through my peaceful slumber like a shard of glass. I was jolted awake, my heart pounding in my chest, my mind foggy with confusion. I blinked, my eyes slowly adjusting to the dim light of the room. The sun was setting, casting long, eerie shadows across the walls. And standing at the foot of the bed, her arms crossed, her face a mask of fury, was Devi. She was still dressed in her sharp office attire, but her usually impeccable appearance was slightly disheveled, as if she'd been pacing for hours.

Kushi was still in my arms, her body curled around mine, her head resting on my chest. She stirred, her eyes fluttering open, a sleepy smile on her face. "Shhh," she murmured, her voice a soft, placating whisper. "He's tired. Go back to sleep, Sid." She began to stroke my hair, her touch gentle and soothing, completely oblivious to the storm brewing at the end of the bed.

Devi's eyes narrowed, her gaze fixed on me. "Did you have a nice sleep, Sid?" she asked, her voice dripping with a sarcasm so sharp it could cut glass.

"What time is it?" I asked, my voice rough with sleep.

"He's tired," Kushi repeated, her voice a little more insistent. "Just let him sleep."

I pushed myself up, my mind slowly clearing. The room was dark, the light outside a deep, dusky orange. I looked at the clock on my nightstand. My eyes widened. It was almost seven in the evening. I had slept for nearly six hours.

"Kushi, you need to go home," Devi said, her tone shifting from furious to impatient. "Your husband will be back soon."

A dull, weary sigh escaped Kushi's lips. She sat up, the sleepy contentment replaced by a familiar, resigned sadness. "I know," she said, her voice quiet. "Only two more days. After that, I'll be free as a bird for a little while."

Devi and I exchanged a confused glance. "What are you talking about?" Devi asked.

"His trip," Kushi said, a flicker of hope in her eyes. "He's planning a business trip to Turkey. For three months." She looked down at her hands, her expression hardening. "Three months. I'm sure it has something to do with his affair. He's probably taking her with him."

Just then, her phone, which was lying on the nightstand, began to ring. She glanced at the caller ID, her expression tightening. She picked it up, her voice instantly transforming into a cheerful, wifely tone. "Hello, darling! Yes, I'm fine. Just catching up with a friend. Oh, really? Tonight? But... I see. No, no, it's fine. I understand. Okay. Have a safe flight. Bye."

She hung up, her face a blank, unreadable mask. She tossed the phone back onto the bed and collapsed back onto the bed.

"Bastard couldn't keep it in his pants," she said. "He's already gone. The trip wasn't next week. It was tonight. He just left." There was no anger in her voice, just resignation.

"Son of a bitch!" Devi cursed under breath. I wasn't sure if she angry for her friend or because of her.

Kushi lay there for a moment before sitting up. "I am going to stay here for a while."

Devi's jaw dropped.

She got out of bed, completely naked, and began to gather her clothes. "Don't worry. I will sleep in your room." She just walked out of the door, leaving Devi and me alone in the dimly lit room, surrounded by the wreckage of the day.

I looked up at Devi, who now looked tired and done for. "Quite a day, huh?"

"Had fun fucking?" she asked, with a sly grin on her face.

"Huh?" I looked on confused. "I thought you were angry."

"I guess I am a little. You two must fucked like hungry bunnies."

I didn't understand what she meant. "What do you mean?"

"Oh please. I know post sex sleep. The harder the fuck, the better the sleep."

"Whoa! Seriously?"

She bent down and leaned in, kissing me gently on my lips. "You better make it up." She casually winked at me, before turning back and walking out the door, with her swaying like a seductive goddess.
