Chapter 40 - 40 - The Prince's Retreat

The silence that followed Kushi's exclamation was a living, breathing thing, a thick, suffocating blanket of pure, unadulterated shock. Devi was the first to break it, her face a mask of cold, hard fury as she pushed herself off me.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Devi snarled, her voice a low, dangerous growl. "I told you to go home."

Kushi didn't even flinch. She reached for her gym bag, and hurled it at Devi. It slammed into Devi with a soft thud. "We exchanged bags, you bitch," she spat, her eyes blazing with a righteous, fiery anger. "I came back to get mine. And I find this? This… this disgusting, incestuous spectacle?"

Devi, however, didn't shrink back. A slow, sly, almost proud smile spread across her lips. She leaned into it, her body a confident, challenging curve. "Incestuous?" she purred, her voice a low, husky hum. "I think that's the best part."

The casual, confident acceptance of the taboo was a slap in the face, a blow that sent Kushi reeling. "You can't just… you can't just steal my boyfriend again!" she cried, her voice a ragged, desperate plea.

Devi let out a low, throaty chuckle, a sound of pure, unadulterated contempt. "Boyfriend?" she scoffed. "You're married, Kushi. You're cheating on your husband. Don't you dare stand there and preach to me about what's right and wrong."

The mention of her husband was a low blow, a dirty, underhanded tactic that hit its mark. "How can you say that?" Kushi shrieked, her voice a high, furious wail. "You know he's cheating on me! You know he's been cheating on me for years! You, of all people, know what that feels like!"

For a moment, Devi's confident facade faltered. A flicker of something—pain, maybe, or guilt—crossed her face. But it was gone as quickly as it appeared, replaced by a cold, hard resolve. "Fine," she said, her voice a flat, emotionless line. "Then find someone else. Go fuck the whole damn neighborhood for all I care. But Sid is mine. I want him for myself."

"No," Kushi said, her voice a low, stubborn growl. She was no longer crying, no longer pleading. She was a cornered animal, and she was ready to fight. "He's mine. He was mine first. I'm the one he confided in. I'm the one he wanted. He's mine."

I watched them, my body a coiled spring of conflicting emotions. Fear, that this would all implode in my face. Joy, that these two incredible, beautiful women were actually fighting over me. Anxiety, that I was losing control of the game I had so carefully orchestrated. And a deep, throbbing, almost painful horniness, a primal, caveman satisfaction at being the prize in such a high-stakes, high-drama battle. I was elated.

Finally, they turned to me, their eyes locking onto me, two burning, demanding fires. "Choose," Devi said, her voice a low, serious growl.

"Choose one of us," Kushi demanded, her voice a desperate, pleading plea.

I looked from one to the other, my mind racing. I couldn't choose. Choosing one would mean losing the other, a defeat I couldn't, wouldn't, accept. "I… I can't," I stammered, my voice a weak, pathetic whisper. "I was just trying to be there for you both. I care about you both. I can't… I can't hurt either of you."

My words, as pathetic as they were, seemed to have an effect. The fire in their eyes dimmed slightly, replaced by a grudging, reluctant understanding. They saw my position, my impossible dilemma. But they didn't back down. They just recalibrated.

"Fine," Devi said, her voice a low, serious murmur. "If you won't choose, then we will. Only one of us can have you."

"And we'll figure out which one it is," Kushi added, her voice a low, determined growl.

I could feel the situation turning against me, my power slipping away, my kingdom on the verge of collapse. I was a prince about to be dethroned, and I had no idea what to do.

They started calmly, a tense, silent standoff. But it didn't last. It was Devi who made the first move, a quick, sharp shove. Kushi stumbled back, then retaliated with a slap that echoed through the room. And then, all hell broke loose. It was a catfight, a whirlwind of hair-pulling, nail-scratching, and furious, incoherent screams. They were a tangle of limbs and rage, a chaotic, beautiful disaster.

This was my chance. While they were distracted, locked in their battle for supremacy, I quietly slipped away. I backed out of the room, then turned and ran, not stopping until I was out of the apartment and halfway down the street.

I didn't know where else to go. There was only one place, one person who could help me.

I found myself standing in front of Janaki's door, my heart pounding a frantic, desperate rhythm. I knocked, my hand trembling.

The door opened, and there she was. Janaki. She was wearing a silk robe, her hair a messy, sexy cascade around her shoulders. A slow, seductive smile spread across her lips, a look of knowing, predatory amusement in her eyes.

"Well, well," she purred, her voice a low, husky hum that vibrated through my very soul. "Look what the cat dragged in. Come on in, my prince. Let's see what kind of trouble you've gotten yourself into now."
