Higuchi's luxury car roared through the rain-slicked streets. He was hyperventilating, his eyes darting to the black notebook on the passenger seat.
"I have to kill him before he speaks!" he shouted at the windshield. He had just seen the 'whistleblower' on the TV screen—a man L had set up as bait. Higuchi didn't know it was a trap; he only knew his empire was at risk.
[Scene 2: The Tactical Pursuit]
In the command van, L's fingers flew across the keyboard. "He's taken the bait. Matsuda, Aizawa, move to intercept. Do not let him see you yet."
Light sat next to L, his eyes fixed on the GPS tracker. The chain between them clinked with every sharp turn the van took.
"He's heading for the Sakura TV station," Light observed, his voice cold and focused. "He thinks he can stop the broadcast from there. He's desperate, Ryuzaki. Desperate people make mistakes."
[Scene 3: The Revelation of the Weapon]
As Higuchi pulled up to the station, he grabbed the notebook and a pen. He began scribbling names of the security guards blocking his way.
Inside the van, L and Light watched the high-definition cameras.
"Look!" Light pointed at the screen. "He's writing in a notebook. He's not using a phone or a heart attack transmitter. It's the book, Ryuzaki. The book is the weapon."
L's eyes widened. "A notebook... so simple, yet so impossible to trace. We need that book, Light-kun. Alive."
[Scene 4: The Cornered Rat]
The police sirens began to wail from all directions. Higuchi looked around, realizing he was surrounded. He tried to write more names, but a police helicopter's spotlight blinded him.
"This isn't over!" Higuchi screamed, holding the Death Note against his chest like a holy relic. "I am Kira! I am the one who decides who lives and who dies!"
In that moment, Light felt a strange, sharp pain in his head. A memory—faint and dark—of a similar book and a similar feeling of power.
