Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Reunion

Three weeks passed—three weeks of increasingly frequent calls that somehow never felt like enough. Camila's law practice demanded her full attention, while Lívia navigated her family's expectations and her own uncertain future. They were islands in the same city, separated by life's obligations.

Finally, Camila suggested a meeting. "Let me see your world," she said over the phone. "Let me see where you live."

They met at a café in Vila Madalena, Lívia's neighborhood. The moment Camila saw her walking toward the table, something eased inside her. Lívia in her element—confident, vibrant, completely at home in the bustling São Paulo street.

"You look different," Camila observed as Lívia sat down.

"Good or bad different?"

"Good different." Camila smiled. "More yourself somehow."

"Or maybe you're just seeing me more clearly."

Lívia led her on a walking tour of her neighborhood—art galleries, street art, the tiny apartment she shared with two roommates. Each step revealed another layer of the woman Camila had met on the mountain.

"This is where I grew up," Lívia said, pointing to a modest apartment building as they walked. "My parents still live there."

"They know you're with me today?" Camila asked carefully.

"I told them I was meeting a friend." Lívia's expression tightened. "I'm not ready for that conversation yet."

Camila stopped, turning to face her. "We don't have to rush anything."

Lívia's shoulders relaxed. "I know. It's just... complicated."

They ended the day at Lívia's favorite lookout point, watching the sun set over the sprawling city. From here, São Paulo looked like a carpet of lights stretching to infinity.

"It's beautiful," Camila said.

"When you can't see the details," Lívia replied wryly. Then softer, "I'm glad you came today."

"Me too." Camila reached for her hand, interlacing their fingers. "Very much."

The connection held, stronger for having been tested. Whatever came next, they would face it together.
